I just got off the phone with Abelina, I had to chuckle! She wanted to know if I could come and reorganize her room today? She said, "the nurses don't listen to her when she asked them to keep it clean". I think it's great that she is wanting to keep everything neat and tidy, she's healing. Also, she wanted to know if I could bring her a Taco Bell taco, with mild salsa. I told her I could not come today, but I called one of our fabulous volunteers Denise Rasmussen, who happens to work in SF and she is delivering her food at 5:00 this evening.
Also, I must admit as much as I have complained about the nurses in the past. For every 30 fantastic nurse, there might be one nurse Ratchet. Actually, one of Abelina's nurses from UC Davis, Meridith Hansen is one of those fantastic nurses. Thank you Meridith!

Hi Abelina
I have been following your blog since it was created. I was the editor of a story you did for a show on fine living. When I heard about what happened to you and your beautiful children my heart was crushed. I want you to know that you are the strongest woman I have ever encountered. You have endured more than anyone can imagine and your positive attitude is so inspirational that I think you could be a roll model for victims of violence anywhere on this planet. You are a survivor - an incredibly beautiful woman who has shown the world that the mind is a powerful tool and can speak volumes when your lips cannot. Not only do you have a strong mind but also an impressive intelligence... and that my friend, puts you on a platform that will always keep the
insensitive nurses and selfish behaviors at arms length. Keep fighting - you have a lot to fight for and it's worth it!!!
