This site was created to keep friends and family of the Magana family updated on Abelina Magana's medical status, as well as trying to raise funds to cover medical expenses, and securing a future for her and her three children. _______________________________________

HOW TO DONATE:
Donations to help Abelina and her children can be made to the following:
-Tax deductible donations can be made at http://www.ntafund.org/ by entering "Abelina Magana" in the patient's name section on the home page. NTAF will accept checks and credit card donations on Abelina's behalf. Again, donations to NTAF are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
All donations will be used for in-home care, a wheel chair accessible van and home modifications.
Abelina is currently going through intense rehabiliation and living independently with the help of her 3 children. But they need more help.
Due to the horrific event on October 12th 2007, that changed the Magana family and friends forever. Abelina is now a quagraplegic with a severing of the spinal cord at her C-5 vertebrae. We were all told from the beginning that the odds were against her. If she survived there would be a 50/50 chance that she would not be around that first Christmas. We were told, if she lived that she would most likely live the remainder of her life in a hospital connected to a ventillator in a hospital bed. Now by the grace of God and Abelina's determination to live for her three babies, not only does she breathe on her own, she has movement in her right and left arm. She continues to defy medicine and like her current doctor, Dr. Ng said, "the hospital is learning from her, not the other way around."
Abelina is determined to make a difference and she will. However, due to her signigicant injuries as a quadraplegic and the enormous amount of daily assistance she requires, she is struggling financially. In addition, her kids are struggling emotionally and physically to keep up with her daily needs.

We wanted to ask our friends to pray for our friends son Joey Kelly who is 10 years old and facing his second bout of cancer. As if they had not been through enough when he was five and diagnosed it is back! We pray for his strength, health and peace of mind.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABELINA! We wish we could be there with you today. You are in our thoughts and prayers each and every day. We are so happy about your progress. Hopefully you've been getting all of the cards and letters that I have sent to you. We love you, and hopefully we'll get to see you soon. I was able to be with the kids at the pasta feed, and they are so sweet. You'd have been very proud of them.

The yoga practice on Saturday was very sweet, and we sent you a lot of healing energy and light. And raised some money too :) Lots of people were there who care for you and are rooting for you and are inspired by your will and courage.

I read on one of the comment sections that you were looking for someone to do grant writing. I have done grant writing in the past and would be willing to help with that if needed. I also am reading a book about the healing power of love and in it Doctor Dean Ornish writes "I am not aware of any other factor in medicine that has a greater impact on illness than Love and Intimacy.They are at the root of what makes us well." So you are giving Abelina the best medicine possible. The book also speaks about a book titled-In Gifts From a Course in Miracles. I have not read it but maybe it's worth checking in to.
