So Abelina's 35th Birthday was a great success. Between Marta Moran, Myself and her brother Hector. We brushed and braided her hair and did her nails , amongst other beauty treatments. She was in great spirits and is very motivated to move on with her life. She was doing impressions and winking a lot. She seems to have quite a repore with the nurses, respiratory therapist's and physical therapist's. She always says "please and thank you," every time they do any task, from moving her, to suctioning the secretions from her lungs.
The best part of her getting her voice other being able to say, " I love you" to all of us is she can tell them when she is uncomfortable.
Abelina went into surgery yesterday to stabilize her neck. From what I have been told they fused together some vertebrates, so she can hold her head up better. Again, the information I received was second hand. Unless I am there, I am very careful with my updates. I will see her again on Thursday and will literally, keep you posted.
Also, thanks to Ronna Somers and Frank Howard Allen. Abelina received her two, gigantic Birthday cards that were signed by all of you at the December 1st fundraiser. As well as a huge pile of other Birthday cards from agents!
Just to let you all know, she loved it!
Keep the cards coming, it means a lot to her...

Abelina,
We are so happy to hear that you are getting better so quickly. Happy Birthday, and we love you. =)
I am so glad that Abelina is in good spirits and had an uplifting birthday. Diana, I will contact Laura regarding the grant writing.
Thanks, Wendy
Boy what great news!!! I loved how you said that she received the "gift of speech"... very fitting for this time of year and a great reminder of acknowledging and appreciating ALL of God's gifts- big and small. I can just see Abelina winking, and truly Abelina is one of the most gracious women I've ever met! I am so happy about her progress and her ability to stay positive. Our best wishes for all of you Tate's and Magana's. thank you for reminding us of the power of friendship and love. I can't wait to see Abelina's smiling face!
