Abelina's Update- December 30th

Hello everyone,

We have been very busy with the holidays. Our Christmas started on the Saturday the 22nd with my family, Sunday we visited with the beautiful Abelina, Sunday night we were graciously invited to a friends house (even with five kids), Monday morning we met with John's Family and Monday night my sister, brother in law and friend. Christmas morning the kids woke us up at 6:30 to unwrap much anticipated Christmas presents. After Eggs Benedict made by Chef John, we gathered Abelina's gifts and headed to the hospital. The kids were so excited to open her gifts for her and read the many holiday cards that came in for her. Abelina, was so gracious, she wanted to see everything up close. She loved the bracelet from Marianne, as well as the leather stamped bracelet made by my son Johnny. Matter of fact , she is wearing three of four bracelets that have recently been given to her. Also, we got the seal of approval for the Bebe sweat suit. The lotions and inspirational books were also well received. Thanks to everyone that have sent cards, bible verses, CD, jewelry, prayers, etc... Every time Abelina gets a note or card she listens very intently, so keep them coming. If you would like to email me a note or send a note to FHA at:

915 Diablo Avenue
Novato , CA 94945,
I will make sure she gets it.

As far as Abelina's health goes, it is going to be a long hard road ahead and she continues to need your prayers. Don't forget to pray for her before bed, when you wake up and if you belong to a church, please continue to put her at the top of your list. As you all know, she was off life support for awhile. Unfortunately, she is back on life support due to her lungs. She is getting stronger everyday but gets discouraged. She is still in a great deal of discomfort and receives heavy doses of morphine, amongst other drugs on a regular basis. She is still receiving physical therapy once a day and respiratory therapy every six hours, so she is progressing. She is able to lift her forearm up rather far (close to her mouth) and continues to work towards her goals.

She is still in ICU and never seems to get a lot of rest! She is battling with the racket from the machines, the nurses shouting outside her room ,as if her peace of mind is of no interest. Also, she is constantly being poked and prodded. Don't get me wrong I know they are doing their job, but it's hard to see her so exhausted.

Continue your positive thoughts and please keep sending notes of encouragement!

Thanks
Diana
