Abelina Update-December 5th

I visited Abelina over the weekend with the kids and her brother Jessie as well as yesterday. Abelina now sits up in a special hospital chair for a few hours a day, it's quite a sight seeing her eye to eye. We are also able to hug her and kiss her more, it' fantastic! They also removed her cast from her right arm and she was able to move it more freely. The movement is improving, so much that the physical therapist, showed Jessie and I specific exercises to increase mobility. For instance, Jessie supported her arm while doing a motion, then she was asked to help and she did. She will have more mobility in her arms if it's up to God! Also, Jessie said that on Monday she moved her left leg and he asked her if, "she was doing that?" She then proceeded to move her leg again! So when I was there Jessie wanted someone else to see, but due to the fact she was sitting down, it posed a problem.

Anyhow, I wanted to ask all of you reading this blog, to pray specifically for Abelina's state of mind! She still does not have the wires off of her mouth and she is discouraged. Also, if you are praying for Abelina she would love to know about it, it makes her smile!

Bless you

Diana Tate

Hi Diana,
I hope you don't get tired of me sending messages, but every time I read your updates, I become so inspired to write. That is wonderful that Abelina is sitting up and is able to receive more physical affection from all of you. I don't know if you read the last message that I left, but I mentioned that I have Abelina in my thoughts every day, almost every minute. Even though she doesn't know me, I thought that you might let her know.I mentioned in one of my other messages that I have suffered a chronic illness. I won't go into detail, but this illness has made me at times incapable of taking care of my children or functioning at all.I have had to stay in the house for months and have often felt that life was going on with out me or passing me by.I only tell you this because although I can not understand in what way Abelina is suffering, I do understand intense amounts of suffering. There have been many days where I felt like I could not get through another day, but I did.Since, I assume that Abelina can't speak yet, possibly it would help her to focus inward and think about what this suffering or new way to be in the world is teaching her.Through her experience, she will be able to make a difference in other people's lives in many ways.If she can focus on that things will get better and let her thoughts concentrate on how far she has already come,it may help her to continue to get through.Let her remember that change is inevitable and so things will change for her in her life.No one knows what life will bring, and since her life was not taken away from her, through her experiences she will become a teacher for others.I have learned so much through my pain and suffering.I often wish that I didn't have to suffer so much, but I am able to help others in many ways through what I have learned.
I hope that in some way my words may encourage Abelina.
Always thinking of you Abelina, your children and the Tates.
With much compassion,
Wendy
