Suzy Fitzpatrick and I visited Abelina today
At her bedside, was her older brother Hector from Arizona. Almost all of her siblings are taking three to four day shifts, they come from Arizona, Texas Afghanistan and Mexico, she is never alone. Also, her mother will not leave her side (other than sleeping) until Abelina is able to leave. I have to say her family is amazing, yesterday when I arrived her brother Hector was braiding his little sisters hair. It was very touching!
Abelina looks better, every time I see her! Yesterday, she had been off the ventilator for fourteen hours. In a week or so, they believe she could be breathing completely on her own. When this happens, they will give her a device that will help her speak through her throat. Just until the wiring is removed from her jaw! They anticipate removing the Jaw support and wiring in three to four weeks. At that point they expect her to be able to speak on her own! The news remains positive and her drive continues to be strong. She still has a very long road, as far as rehabilitation and it is expected to be quite costly.
So many thanks to all of you, that have donated to the Magana Fund at Bank of Marin.
The funds initially will be used for Abelina's medical expenses and then the remainder will be put into the estate of Abelina and the kids.
I hope to see you all at the pasta feed on the first of December.

You are so lovely to keep giving updated news and it is great to hear that she has so much support and love around her, there is no better way of healing. So great to hear that she is making progress, thank God and all her friends and family for that.
Best of luck to Abelina and her children, we sent our warmest thoughts.
