Update

Yesterday, that ever encumburing heavy in weight, brace was permanetly removed from Abelina's jaw. Gloria (her sister) and I were able to see her minutes after coming out of surgery. She was absolutely glowing, her eyes zeroed in on us immediately and she was grinning from ear to ear. She no longer has any metal in her mouth nor in her jaw. We spoke to the suregon and he said,"as far as the jaw is concerened, she is ready to eat." Now we just have to wait for some more test, involving her ability to swallow on Friday. This is when we order up the tastiest, biggest baked potato with sour cream and salt and pepper availiable. Yes, out of everything this is what she wants first. Also, she might be getting to go outside in a wheelchair very soon, she so looks forward to it!

Additionally, she is now able to have flowers, so those of you wishing to send her flowers opportunity is knocking. I brought her a boquet of flowers with a dozen roses. She wanted to smell one, so I pulled a lavender rose out of the boquet and put it to her nose, she began to cry... So, I thought I would bring her even more fragrant flowers on my next trip, lavender would be nice!

Thanks for all of the prayers, it's working!

Good for her! I am sure that baked potato will take fantastic. I have even more empathy for Abelina and her friends and family as my father in law has been in the ICU for 3 weeks and it has been touch and go but he seems to be getting better slowly. I now realize how difficult it is to be in the ICU and how enclosed it feels. I hope she can go outside soon, that will make her feel so wonderful!
All our best wishes
