HOW TO DONATE:
Donations to help Abelina and her children can be made to the following:
-Tax deductible donations can be made at http://www.ntafund.org/ by entering "Abelina Magana" in the patient's name section on the home page. NTAF will accept checks and credit card donations on Abelina's behalf. Again, donations to NTAF are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
All donations will be used for in-home care, a wheel chair accessible van and home modifications.
Abelina is currently going through intense rehabiliation and living independently with the help of her 3 children. But they need more help.
Due to the horrific event on October 12th 2007, that changed the Magana family and friends forever. Abelina is now a quagraplegic with a severing of the spinal cord at her C-5 vertebrae. We were all told from the beginning that the odds were against her. If she survived there would be a 50/50 chance that she would not be around that first Christmas. We were told, if she lived that she would most likely live the remainder of her life in a hospital connected to a ventillator in a hospital bed. Now by the grace of God and Abelina's determination to live for her three babies, not only does she breathe on her own, she has movement in her right and left arm. She continues to defy medicine and like her current doctor, Dr. Ng said, "the hospital is learning from her, not the other way around."
Abelina is determined to make a difference and she will. However, due to her signigicant injuries as a quadraplegic and the enormous amount of daily assistance she requires, she is struggling financially. In addition, her kids are struggling emotionally and physically to keep up with her daily needs.

We wanted to ask our friends to pray for our friends son Joey Kelly who is 10 years old and facing his second bout of cancer. As if they had not been through enough when he was five and diagnosed it is back! We pray for his strength, health and peace of mind.

Abelina - such a spitfire with the warmest heart I know. You became an instant friend to me when I did not know a sole in Novato. You took me under your wing just because you are a good person who wanted to see me succeed. Encouraging, loyal, funny, so very funny. Beautiful lady inside and out. Abelina is one of the sweetest, kindest human beings that I have ever been given the opportunity to get to know. She is the true description of a Angel sent by God to live here on earth. I do not know your mother or you, Claudia, Abraham Jr & Angel but I can tell that you are full of love & faith. I can also tell your mother is too.
I just want you to know that there are many many people out there who have never met you that are praying for you & who are thinking about you everyday.

I haven't had the pleasure of meeting the Magana family yet, but I do know the Tate's. Diana is my aunt. We are very close in age and have been good friends my whole life. After reading all of the wonderful things that Abelina's loved ones have written about her, I can see why she and Diana developed such a strong bond. They have a lot in common. Diana is a loyal friend and a devoted mom. She's very resourceful and if you're in need, regardless of what she's got going on-Diana will be there to help. She is truly a blessing we all should count. I send my best wishes to the Magana family and look forward to meeting you one day.

Like many others, your mother has touched our lives. My husband, Kyle, has the opportunity to work closely with her. He always tells me what a hard worker she is and how much he learns from her. I have heard so much about all of you from the stories your mom shares with Kyle. She is so proud of each of you. The first time I met your mom I had my oldest girl with me - who was not even 2 months at the time. Your mom immediately asked to hold her. She had such a light in her eyes - I could tell she loves babies. Every time I see your mom, I am always so touched by her kindness and beauty. She is a wonderful person and I look forward to seeing her very soon. You are all in our hearts, our prayers and our thoughts.

A moment does not pass without us thinking of all of you. Diana has been keeping me up to date on your mom. I am so glad that Abelina Magana is my mom! YAH! I said it, she is my mom! She is wonderful and precious to me and my brothers and sister. I am going to see her in the hospital. She is doing a lot better and she is still rocking and rolling.

Abelina-she was like my mom she would give me lots of kisses and hugs.she would always look good in fact she still has red nail polish on from before.her eye brows are waxed.she always is happy so kep prying for her so she will be better.

I met Abelina when she was a student in the last yoga class I taught at Healthworks in April this year, before my bilateral mastectomy surgery. I remember Abelina clearly: She was a beautiful student - focused and responsive to the yoga teachings. And I remember so clearly how she came up to me after class, even though she did not know me well, and spoke to me sweetly and encouragingly about my breast cancer. I have been praying for Abelina every day since I heard about what happened to her, and I will continue to do so, holding her in the light. She is a very special woman, and I am honored to know her.
