Abelina's Update 11/6/07

Today Marta Moran and I made a quick trip to see Abelina at the Hospital. Every time we see her she looks a little better. So, today she was wondering how long she had been off the ventilator, so I asked the nurse and she said, "it had been since 8:00 am." So that made five and a half hours so far. Then, I asked her "if she was tyring to beat out yesterdays record of thirteen hours"? And she smiled and nodded "Yes". So, Abelina still has her competitive spirit! Also, the nurse mentioned the wires on her jaw and teeth are expected to be removed in two to three more weeks. Abelina's spirit's seem are high and she is taking on this challenge with all great determination, in her usual fashion.

Diana,
My son Eloi played on the soccer team the Ruckus with John. I remember you very well and am so sorry to hear about your precious friend Abelina. We live off of Atherton, so we were shocked and saddened to hear about this. We are all thinking about and praying for Abelina and her family every day. We are planning to go to the fundraiser is December. We will try to help in whatever way we can.
Thinking of you,
Wendy Margolin

Dear Diana:
Thank you for keeping everyone updated via this bog site. While Abelina is aware of how incredible her children are, please let her know that she can be extra proud of the way they have conducted themselves the past few weeks. They have demonstrated maturity, caring, and strength. Abraham Jr., Claudia, and Angel possess faith, compassion, and integrity - just like their beautiful mother! My family, friends, and I continue to pray for Abelina and all who love and care for her.
Much love,
Debbie Hanks (teacher)

Thanks so much for your updates, Diana! Our family has never met Abelina, but we pray for her and for her beautiful children every day, and we know God hears each prayer. Please read for her a couple of our favorite Bible verses: Romans 8: 38-39. We'll keep praying!

Hi Diana,
I am so glad to hear that Abelina continues to improve. I read your comments every day to learn about her progress.I want to do more for her and her children. What has happened to her family is close to my heart for many reasons. We don't have a lot of money to spare, but I do have time. I'd like to get involved in the fundraising, but since I don't know the family personally or her friends except for you, I'm not sure if it is appropriate. When our sons played soccer together, I remember what a nice person you are, so I know that Abelina must be pretty special for you to be so close. There is a family from Novato at Eloi's school whose daughter recently became paralyzed from an accident and they have raised $120,000 in four months. We could do the same for Abelina and her children if many people got together. I know Leanne Trahan from Eloi playing soccer with Cole. Maybe I could contact her? I wanted to ask you first.
With Warmest Regards,
Wendy Margolin

It is wonderful to hear such promising news. Please let Abelina know that many people in our church are also praying for her and her family. I sent an email to a couple of church leaders to ask if anyone has bible verses on CD.
Does she have a preference for English or Spanish? Perhaps I can find something online.

Thank you so much for the updates. I am so happy Abelina is doing better. I am inviting all the Latino community to join to the fundraising at the Novato Youth Center. I work there and I will be volunteering with some of my co-workers.
I hope lots of people show up for the dinner!
Thanks!
Rosa
